Introducing Pre Hospital Care with FIKKES Students of Unimus

PPNI-PQ-dan-FIKKES-UNIMUSINNA-Q.org | Semarang – Pre Hospital Care for those who are involved in nursing study, as students or nurse in practical, is sometimes considered as a newly created word to understand. Most of them have been well acquainted with hospital service system. While, they have very little understanding towards Pre Hospital Care

10 members from PPNI of Qatar Representative in collaboration with the Health Science Faculty (FIKKES) of Unimus, hold a seminar of “Pre Hospital Emergency Care” on Friday, 22 February 2013. The seminar is designed for those who want to learn Emergency Medical Technician in a shorter time, while in fact it has to be learned at least for three months. Thus, the trainers from PPNI of Qatar Representative are working hard to make an interesting seminar.

The seminar which is attended by 89 students of Nursing undergraduate programme and Nursing Profession Programme of FIKKES Unimus is commenced at 10 o’clock with a topic of “Pre Hospital Care: An Introduction”. This topic focuses on an introduction of pre hospital service, especially anything related to ambulance service and then “Trauma Assessment”. This lecture is given by Mr. Sugeng Riyadi, a trainer, who is also a PPNI of Qatar Representative 2012-2017 secretary. It is done for about an hour including discussion session. All of the participants are very hapy of having this lecture as the first agenda on this seminar. It is then closed by the simulation of trauma assesment.

After having Jumu’ah prayer and lunch, sharing session of pre hospital care is then continued. The second session ofUNIMUS Day Care seminar has “Basic ECG Interpretation” as the focus of discussion. The discussion goes well as interesting as the previous one. The participants are actively involved in the discussion of ECG learning and practical method of reading. The lecture is given by Mrs. Tri Astuti.

Afterwards, the trainers giving Basic Life Support technique including choked cases. The talk on this topic is given by Mr. Rois and Mrs. Ria Budi. Then, the participants are asked to involve in a simple practical of this discussion.

On the last session, Kendrick Extrication Devices (KED) is inroduced to the participants, including how to use this. To make more comprehensive explanation, the participant chosen being hurt caused by accident, then the way of making use of KED can be hopefully well understood by the participants. The technique is performed by Mr. Heris and Mr. Adi. Then, the participant being hurt is taken to Long Back Board vehicle.

In the evening, the seminar which has been lasted for about four hours nearly comes to its end. By the end of the seminar, the participants are asked to fill in the feedback form. Eventually, the seminar is closed by the photo session with the trainers from PPNI of Qatar Representative.

We do really hope this seminar will give students of Unimus, especially the Midwifery, some beneficial experience. Midwifery profession should be always well developed by those who have concerns to this, including us.

Now, let’s moving forward to build Nurse Profession Programme!
